本日、貴国がネバダ州の核実験場において、5月14日に臨界前核実験を実施したとの報道に接した。
長期化するウクライナ危機や深刻化する中東情勢などにより緊迫する国際情勢下で、この度実施した臨界前核実験は、核軍拡競争をさらに助長するものであり、被爆者をはじめとする平和を希求する世界中の人々の切なる思いを踏みにじる行為として断じて許すことはできない。
被爆地・長崎市民を代表して厳重に抗議するとともに、今後、核兵器の維持存続や開発につながる一切の核実験の中止を求める。
昨年のG7広島サミットの成果文書「核軍縮に関するG7首脳広島ビジョン」において、「核戦争に勝者はいない。決して戦ってはならない。」と再確認したことを想起するとともに、被爆地及び国際社会の願いを真摯に受け止め、核兵器のない世界に向けたリーダーシップを発揮することを強く求める。

Dear Mr. President,
Today, we received reports detailing that the United States of America carried out a subcritical nuclear test on May 14, 2024 at a nuclear testing site in the state of Nevada.
The subcritical nuclear test was conducted at a time when international tensions are intensifying, what with the prolonged Ukraine Crisis and the deteriorating situation in the Middle East. This is a dangerous course of action that could foment a nuclear arms race and is a flagrant disregard of the ardent wishes of the atomic bomb survivors and all of the people around the world who aspire for peace. This is utterly unacceptable.
On behalf of the people of the atomic-bombed city of Nagasaki, we hereby strongly protest against this latest nuclear test and urge that you henceforth cease all nuclear testing for the maintenance and development of nuclear weapons.
We ask you to remember the reaffirmation you made that “a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought” in the G7 Leaders’ Hiroshima Vision on Nuclear Disarmament, an outcome document at the last year’s G7 Hiroshima Summit. Furthermore, we strongly urge you to earnestly take the wishes of the atomic-bombed cities and international society into consideration, and to demonstrate leadership that will lead to a world without nuclear weapons.
